The Red and Yellow Rooms
Building Blocks offers two pre-kindergarten classrooms, the Red Room and the Yellow Room.
When the two classrooms are working together, we call them the Orange Room.
The curriculum in these two classrooms is the most structured of all the classrooms. This is the final year to prepare your child for the challenges of kindergarten. Everything we have taught your child up to this point has given them the foundations needed to accomplish the tasks needed for Kindergarten Readiness Skills.
In Pre-K, the children begin to learn the mechanics of our alphabet. Not only the recognition of each letter, but the sound it makes and how to write the letter with the appropriate pencil strokes.
All of these are critical in eventually learning to read and write.
Math and Science skills are also incorporated into the curriculum through
games and hands-on experiments.
While continuously preparing your child pre-academically, socialization and high self-esteem are still the most important part of our curriculum. Our ultimate goal is for ALL children to leave Building Blocks with lasting friendships and feeling good about themselves and the world around them!
