It all began when a Junior High School student was asked that famous question, "What do you want to do when you grow up?" Her answer was immediate, "Own a Child Care Center where children can learn and be happy!"

While working for a child care center all through high school and college, Kristi Kramer earned her Early Childhood Degree from the University of Kansas, before becoming the Assistant Director of that Child Care Center. Eventually she bought a little house in downtown Lenexa where she started a small in-home preschool/childcare with 10 children. After nine years, she was approached by an area developer who wanted to open a child care center in his technology park.

Suddenly, the dream started to take the form of a reality! An architect came to Kristi's little house, and she pulled out a piece of paper and a crayon and drew a small floor plan of what she envisioned.

Two weeks later, her little drawing turned into the blueprints for the little white brick building we all know of today as

Building Blocks Child Development Center!

On August 4th of 1997,

Kristi opened her arms and her doors to 82 children!

Yes, Dreams do Come True!
